Wilhelmina, aka as Mina, was born in Montreal, Canada from parents who immigrated from the Netherlands and speaks fluent Dutch. Mina is a consummate creative - she is a writer, poet, pianist, painter, graphic artist, and photographer. She is a direct descendant of the famous artist family, the Koekkoek's.
Unique, experimental, thought-provoking and inherently gorgeous, describes the traditional photography and art created by Wilhelmina. Her digital images have been described as symbolic and with hidden meanings, Wilhelmina likes to describe her artwork as being "Subject to Interpretation" where the viewer is free to interpret the piece as they want, think what they want about it, and then decide what it means - not only what the piece means as a whole, but most importantly what that piece means to them.
Wilhelmina has had a number of solo exhibits in Connecticut and in Florida, where she now resides. Her most recent exhibit was at the Art Ovation hotel in Sarasota, Florida. She has won numerous awards and accolades over the last ten years. As a writer, she has been published in regional magazines, and written a children's book.
September 28 - October 3, 2021, Wilhelmina was guest artist at the Art Ovation Hotel. "A Journey of Surreal Works" was described as eclectic, eccentric and electric where she showcased her large collection of digital montages.
